What Satellite Phones work on the Globalstar System and activated in the US?
The GSP-1600 Portable Tri- Satellite Phone - Users can switch from terrestrial cellular analog (AMPS) to digital cellular (CDMA - Code Division Multiple Access) networks to the Globalstar Satellite Network. This allows users to make or receive calls outside of cellular coverage areas.

GSP-2900 Fixed Satellite Phones - an innovative wireless solution for the quick and efficient installation of a communications link for "hard to reach" subscribers in a fixed location.

Are Globalstar phones available for rent?

How does the GSP 1600 Tri-Mode Satellite Phone work?
The GSP-1600 Portable Tri- Satellite Phone works like a cellular phone wherever cellular service is available, both in analog and digital mode in addition to satellite mode. The GSP-1600 phone will switch to satellite mode when the user is out of cellular range, or when the phone's satellite antenna is extended.

The GSP-1600 will NOT work inside buildings when in cellular mode. However, in satellite mode, the user must have direct line-of-sight with Globalstar satellites, away from buildings or large structures.

How does the quality of Globalsar phone calls compre with cellular calls?
The Globalstar satellite phones use QUALCOMMs CDMA digital technology, which provide digital voice services with better clarity, quality and privacy than land-based analog cellular systems.

Is Globalstar affordable?
Whith minutes starting as low as $0.14 a minute, Globalstar satellite service is affordable for any business operating in remote areas. Airtime Rate Plans begin at $39.99 a month.  The GSP-1600 Portable Tri-Mode Satellite Phone is available for $745.00.

What services are available on the Globalstar Network?
There are a variety of services currently provided or scheduled to be provided by the Globalstar Network.  Availability of theses services depends upon what the Service Providers offer in each country.

When was Globalstar made available in North America?
Globalstar has been servicing North American since the fall of 1999. Globalstar introduced its commercial services in three phases: "Friendly Users" trails began in October 1999, introductory service to a preliminary number of customers was available in November 1999, and full commercial service was introduced across North America in February, 2000.

The Globalstar network of extensive satellites connects you to the people and information that matter most from virtually anywhere in over 120 countries around the world.
